Troye Sivan Says He Would Have Auditioned for a Role in 'Call Me By Your Name'

February 28, 2018

He's a pop super star, who is perhaps no the verge of making 2018 the biggest year of his career (so far), but he says he would have had fun starring in an Oscar nominated movie.

Troye Sivan recently revealed in an interview that he would have had fun auditioning for the role of Elio Perlman in the Best Picture-nominated film, Call Me By Your Name.

The 22-year-old went on to say that the role was definitely made for its star Timothée Chalamet, but he acknowledged that it would have been fun. In fact, Sivan says it was a character he could totally identify with (physically and emotionally). ( via )

Call Me By Your Name was based on the 2007 novel of the same name. It chronicles the relationship between 17 year-old Elio Perlman and his father's 24-year-old assistant, Oliver. The pair have a fling during the summer of 1983, as they spend the summer together at the Perlman's summer home in Northern Italy.

Sivan is no stranger to the big screen. He has had roles in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the Spud trilogy. Plus, he will have a role in Joel Edgerton’s upcoming film, Boy Erased, which centers around gay conversion therapy. Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman star in the movie, which is slated to be released in September.

Meanwhile, Troye's music career is also surging. He recently appeared on Saturday Night Live as the show's musical guest to promote his latest single "My My My!" Plus, the former YouTube star is expected to release his sophomore album later this year.
