Richard Simmons Could Finally Be Making His Comeback

It has been three years since Richard Simmons was last seen out in public, but we just got our first indication that the fitness icon could be planning his return to the spotlight.

Simmons signed a business deal this week that could put him back in the public eye. He signed a deal with a management company that will be representing the fitness guru for merchandising, licensing, and endorsements. The firm (Prominent Brand + Talent) was co-founded by Simmons’ longtime manager, Michael Catalano.

It sounds like Simmons will be releasing a new line of new products, and they’ll be sold by retailers like QVC and Walmart.

“We’re talking about inspiration-themed products that will hopefully accomplish what Richard really set his life’s work to do, which is to help people take better care of themselves. We’re not licensing tires and party hats," Catalano told the NY Times.

However, the most interesting piece of news from this announcement is the fact that Richard himself could be involved in the promotion of this new line.

Simmons has not been seen since he stopped showing up to teach a class at his Beverly Hills gym in 2014. He has not made any public appearances since then, and he continues to decline all requests for interviews. His "disappearance" from the spotlight has caused concern for his well-being. Plus, it has generated a renewed fascination with the life of the 68-year-old weight loss guru.

So could Richard actually be involved in the public promotion of his new product line?

“All I can say, at least for now, is it is possible, but it is yet to be determined, I would say." Catalano told the NY Times.
